About this piece

This woodworking project was created as a commissioned functional artwork, combining creativity, craftsmanship, and practical design. Inspired by the structure and flow of a DNA-like pattern, the piece uses simple forms and balanced construction to create a unique coat hanger for the client's home. The artwork was built by joining two timber poles together and attaching multiple hanging points using nail guns, wood glue, and careful assembly techniques. To ensure stability and functionality, magnets and weighted metal components were added to the base, helping the structure remain balanced when coats, bags, and other items are hung on it.__Russell Minhindukula

Motivation

__Russell MinhindukulaOnce the construction was complete, the timber was stained and finished with varnish to enhance the natural character of the wood while providing durability and protection. The final result is both a practical household object and a handcrafted artistic statement.
