About this piece
This project highlights my ability to restore neglected furniture and transform unwanted pieces into beautiful, functional centrepieces. Custom Bench Construction To complement the restored table, I designed and built a matching bench entirely from the ground up. Materials were carefully sourced and selected to create a strong, durable seating solution capable of comfortably accommodating up to five people. The bench was constructed with a focus on strength, stability, and comfort, ensuring it would stand up to regular use while maintaining an attractive appearance. The finish was colour-matched to the restored table, creating a cohesive and professional dining set. Complete Dining Suite To complete the project, I sourced and selected five matching chairs that complemented both the restored table and the custom-built bench. The result is a fully coordinated dining suite that combines restoration craftsmanship, custom furniture building, and thoughtful design.Once the repairs were complete, I refinished the surface through multiple stages of sanding and finishing. The table was sanded back, treated with gloss varnish, sanded again for a smooth finish, and then stained to enhance the timber's natural character. Motivation
The dining table began as a discarded piece that had been neglected and destined for disposal. Despite its condition, I recognised its potential and undertook a complete restoration. The table presented several structural challenges, including instability, unevenness, and balance issues. I carefully repaired and reinforced the framework, ensuring the I specialise in rescuing unwanted, damaged, and forgotten furniture, restoring structural integrity, and creating beautiful, practical pieces that can be enjoyed for many years to come. Whether restoring an existing item or building complementary furniture from scratch, my focus is on quality craftsmanship, durability, and attention to detail. Transforming discarded furniture into unique, functional pieces is not just restoration, it is giving quality craftsmanship a second life. table was level, sturdy, and built to withstand everyday use.
