About this piece
This coffee table has been a true labour of love. Originally purchased from a garage sale for $100, it had good bones but was showing its age. The surface was uneven in places, a few nails were protruding, and the table had several imperfections that affected both its appearance and usability. Over the course of several months, working on the project part-time, I carefully restored the table from the ground up. The restoration process involved addressing structural issues, levelling uneven surfaces, securing loose components, and ensuring the table was safe and practical for everyday use. Once the repairs were completed, I began the refinishing process. Every surface, nook, and cranny was sanded multiple times to achieve a smooth and consistent finish. Motivation
Particular attention was given to the colour design. Different tones and finishes were selected to highlight the table's unique features and create visual depth throughout the piece. The top surface was finished with a glossy protective coating to provide a subtle shine and enhance the grain and character of the wood. In contrast, the sides, underside, and surrounding areas were given a matte finish, creating an attractive balance between sophistication and natural texture.____ Russell MihinduKula
